It’s fabulous to see such a great line-up for MITLA’s debut event: a conference entitled: ‘Data Protection at a crossroads: re-inventing wheels or chasing windmills?’.
The event is scheduled for the 1st of April 2015 at SmartCity Malta. The conference aims to analyse the fact that the proposed EU general Data Protection Regulation aims at bringing current data protection legislation in line with recent technological and social developments. The panelists will discuss whether the strengthening of concepts such as the right to be forgotten, data portability, privacy by design and privacy by default may inhibit technological innovation. The aim of the seminar will be to provide an update on the latest legislative proposals as well as discuss the impact that the proposed Regulation will have on current data protection practices.
The speaker lineup features three top thinkers in this field: Dr. Bruno Gencarelli (Head of Unit – Data Protection, European Commission, DG Justice), Dr. Remco Hendrikse (Commercial Attorney, Microsoft CEE) and Prof. Joseph A. Cannataci (Chair in European Information Policy & Technology Law, University of Groningen).
